COURSE DESCRIPTION
Top performers in business, sports, and everyday life are often the ones who manage high levels of stress most positively.
The discomfort caused by stress can be used productively to achieve meaningful goals and motivate us to make necessary changes in our lives. On the other hand, uncontrolled or chronic stress can be catastrophic.
In fact, stress is recognized as a cause or complicating factor for nearly all disease, including connections to every one of the top 10 causes of death in Canada. This makes effective stress management one of today’s most important forms of preventive medicine. The focus of this course will be on applying "pressure" to our advantage for optimizing performance, achievement, and quality of life.
We will discuss the causes and affects of stress on our bodies and minds, and we will outline techniques for increasing or decreasing our stress as appropriate for maintaining motivation and productivity and coping with life’s unexpected twists.
