Checking and Storing Raw Food for Optimal Freshness
In my classes, I get asked a lot about the best way to store expensive raw food ingredients for the best and longest shelf life. Here are some of the answers I give:
Nuts, Seeds and Grains are best stored for between 3 months to one year in a glass jar in a cupboard or pantry. They stay even fresher stored in the refrigerator for up to a year or in the freezer even longer. The question becomes, how do you know how fresh they actually are and were they fresh when you bought them? If you buy your fresh nuts and seeds from a reputable source that has a high turn over such as Whole Foods, chances are pretty good that they are constantly refilling their bins and shelves with fresh ingredients. You can be sure you are getting something fresh there.

What Is A Keto Vegan/Plant-Based Diet?
What Is Ketosis? Definition: “Ketogenesis” means “generating ketones,” which your body does naturally to generate energy from fat when carbohydrate sources are sufficiently low (e.g., after intense exercise, long periods of fasting, etc.). “Ketogenic diets” are thus a way of switching your body over into a fat-burning state. The Ketogenic or KETO diet is gaining popularity. Many people wonder if it is possible to adopt a Keto Vegan Plant-Based Diet. I’m here to tell you YES! It is!

Is Coconut Oil Related to Heart Disease?
Have you heard? The American Heart Association just released news that coconut oil is bad for you…
The author of the study said that coconut oil increases the risk of heart disease. Funny enough, if you read the article all the way through, you will see that it also mentions that it is subjective to each person, and that cutting saturated fat may not actually reduce the risk of heart attack. This sensational headline is designed to get people reading the article but seems to contradict itself by the end. It also mentions that sugar and junk food are the main culprits for heart disease. The article uses MCT oil as its main way of bashing coconut oil. MCT oil is a more expensive, highly processed, fractionated form of coconut oil used by athletes and body builders to increase metabolism. MCT oil is not coconut oil.
When does a banana, or any other fruit for that matter, become ripe enough to eat? And at what point do they become over-ripe: too ripe to eat? I ask because both my partner and I have witnessed what to us is a huge waste: fruit that to us is still perfectly edible, but which other people are throwing away! Bananas are the case in point.
4 Superfoods to Make You Stronger, Smarter, Faster!
One of the most important things you can do for your health is to eat a diet rich in alkaline minerals to neutralize excess acidity such as ripe fruits and leafy greens. Grass powders are a quick way to buffer acidity and quickly increase your alkalinity. A result of consuming too many acid-forming foods (like processed and fried foods, meat, dairy, sugar, and grains) our bones are robbed of their precious minerals which can lead to illness and degenerative bone disease.

Strawberry Vanilla Coconut Cream Pudding
I made these for my family a couple of weeks ago for Valentine’s Day weekend. Although strawberries are technically out of season at this time of year I had seen them in the shops and thought they would be perfect for a heart-shaped theme. They are delicious; you need confidence that they will set well when you beat the coconut. I left them for an hour after making them, covered on the countertop although you could also pop them into the fridge.
