Two Words That Can Stop Cravings

Most temptations we face day to day, whether it’s a delicious looking bagel just freshly toasted and dripping with butter, or a piece of chocolate cake at a friends birthday party, or a selection of wines at a party, only take us by surprise if we have not already determined what we do and do not eat.

The Buzz About Irish Moss

Over the past week I have received emails and phone calls about the safety of consuming Irish Moss. Dr. Andrew Weil has openly spoken out against Carrageenan, which is derived from Red Irish Moss, so some people have taken this to mean that Irish Moss is the “bad guy.” It is my belief that the toxic alkali in Irish Moss used to produce Carrageenan is really the culprit.

Pure Joy Maca Balls

We just finished week one of our 4-week course. We are having so much fun creating food together and just enjoying one another’s company.

Are You a Hungry Ghost?

Last summer, when I was fasting in Thailand, I read Savor, a book by Thich Nhat Hanh. The fast was a success, and it was also a struggle to stay on it at times. I fasted for 11 days while there, and in the end I learned a lot about myself. During that time I took ownership of my self-sabotage, and I confronted and honored it with love and compassion. Overcoming Food Sensitivities with Healthy Choices

Food is many things to many people. It is a source of entertainment, a source of comfort, a source of energy, and something to help us get through times of stress. You Want Me To Eat That?

Making Eating Well Easy

I know that sometimes the biggest hurdle to overcome in changing to a healthier diet is how to find the time to prepare fresh food. Here are some tips that may make eating healthy easier:

Are You Feeling Hot, Fat, Bloated, Lackluster, or Just Plain Tired?

If so, then you may want to consider doing a short or long fast on juices. Summer is the perfect time for fasting since it is hot and usually our appetites are not quite so strong. A bonus to fasting during the summer (or anytime) is that it reduces all inflammation in the body. So if you feel puffy, itchy, cranky, have eczema or any other skin condition or any ailment for that matter, fasting will clean out your body so you can feel fresh and new again!
